Returning their lands to the Indigenous communities of the Sierra is at the very heart of our organisation. That is why we are delighted to share with you that two new plots of land were purchased and returned to the peoples of the Sierra in late December 2024. This restitution was made possible thanks to the coordination of Indigenous facilitators trained by Tchendukua, who helped to pre-identify the land and take the initial steps. Nearly 30 years of relationships and trust between the association and the Indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta have made this success possible.
In 2024, a further 277 hectares of land were returned to the Kogi and Wiwa peoples. A total of 2,809 hectares has been recovered since the association was founded in 1997.
