An anniversary project
In 2022, Tchendukua celebrates 25 years of working alongside the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia. Over 2,000 hectares of land have been bought back and returned, forests have regrown, families have resettled, thousands of people have rallied together, and trust has been restored…
Today, in the particularly uncertain times we are facing, the Kogi, Arhuaco and Wiwa peoples, and more broadly the ‘indigenous’ communities, invite us to engage in dialogue. A magnificent opportunity to learn from our differences so that we may together imagine a world in alliance with, rather than in opposition to, nature.
A proposal launched on the initiative of Mamu Miguel DINGULA (Kogi) in these terms:
To respond to this invitation, and to celebrate this anniversary, Tchendukua is launching the ‘Re-enchanting the Living’ programme.
With the following objectives:
- To forge links between our modern societies (85% of which are urban), ‘indigenous’ societies that still live in harmony with nature, and the scientific world.
- Inspire one another to imagine new models of society together, ones that are more respectful of nature and humanity.
- Work together towards a shared future full of hope.
